Flourishing, a term borrowed from Positive Psychology, describes what happens when a range of intentional practices and disciplines that foster wellbeing and happiness are pursued. While flourishing is a deeply individualistic idea--everyone's approach to flourishing will differ--fiscal sponsors can engage in practices, policies and build resources that broadly support individual and collective flourishing for both sponsor and project staff alike.
So what does it take to flourish in a fiscal sponsorship workplace? Professionals in the field know it is damn hard and often thankless work. Regardless of the position, most people being hired as fiscal sponsor practitioners are coming from the broader nonprofit sector or beyond and don’t have direct experience working in fiscal sponsorship and, until they do so, may not have a full appreciation of all it entails. Whether one flourishes or crashes in this space depends on a complicated blend of factors that go well beyond personal motivation and compensation (as important as those are!). Join us as we discuss experiences and ideas for building a flourishing workforce of fiscal sponsor practitioners.
