Fiscal Sponsorship and the IRS

The Internal Revenue Service recently put out a request for comment presenting the public with an opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations regarding the forms they use for collecting information from charitable organizations. As fiscal sponsorship continues to emerge from a “best kept secret” to a well understood and increasingly go-to option for launching and sustaining social good work, Social Impact Commons has been thinking about what changes should be suggested to the IRS in how it collects information touching on fiscal sponsorship. We know there are a diversity of views on how fiscal sponsorship should show up (or not show up) on government forms and we’ll use this conversation to exchange ideas and discuss opinions on this important matter.
