This session continues the conversation from April 8 led by Josh Sattely on equitable contracting. At the end of that session it was proposed that we try some collective drafting and editing of two sample fiscal sponsorship agreements, following principles of equity and mutuality. In this session Josh will lead a deeper dive into particular contract elements, using a Model C Agreement as the subject of discussion.
Legal contracts are one of the chief ways in which we can exercise equity in sharing authorities and responsibilities, as well as provide greater transparency and accessibility for our projects. We will offer an overview of the growing movement around “plain language” legal writing, share our Equitable Contracting Guidelines, and gather perspectives from participants on how they approach equity considerations in contracting, as well as ensure accessibility, transparency, and mutual understanding among contracting parties.
